Dr Barbara Mayer is Partner at ADVANT Beiten's Freiburg office and and co-head of the Corporate/M&A practice group. Her focus is on national and cross-border M&A transactions – for family-run medium sized companies as well as for international groups. In addition, she advises companies of all sizes – from start-ups to listed multinationals - on cross-border projects all over the world, on corporate law issues, on the preparation of shareholders' meetings and general assemblies as well as on restructurings. Another focus of Dr Barbara Mayer’s work is advising family businesses and the families behind them in the context of shareholder disputes and succession planning. With international clients and vast global connections in the legal sector, she helps clients to cross borders whenever needed. Her industry focus is on healthcare/life sciences and technology. She frequently publishes articles on current developments in corporate law and is the author and/or editor of several legal books.
Dr Barbara Mayer studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg, Strasbourg (Faculté Internationale de Droit Comparé) as well as the Albert Ludwig University Freiburg. She obtained her doctoral degree at the University of Freiburg, completed her legal training in Hamburg and was admitted to the German Bar in 1993. Prior to joining ADVANT Beiten in 2022, she has been Managing Partner of a leading independent German law firm for several years.
