On 14 October 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 CET (16:00–17:30 local time in Beijing), the EU SME Centre and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China are organising a hybrid workshop titled "Hiring, Retaining, Firing: HR Best Practices in China" – taking place both onsite at the European Chamber Offices (Liangmaqiao DRC, Beijing) and online via Zoom.
The workshop addresses one of the most pressing challenges for European SMEs operating in China: how to recruit the right people, manage a team effectively, and handle contract terminations in compliance with Chinese labour and HR regulations. The distance between headquarters and local teams adds an additional layer of complexity that the session aims to address with practical guidance from experienced experts.
Susanne Rademacher, expert at ADVANT Beiten, will speak on the topic "Legal Matters and Best Practices When Letting Employees Go", sharing key legal insights and actionable recommendations for companies navigating this process in China.
The event is free of charge and open to all European SMEs, stakeholders of the EU SME Centre, business support and trade promotion organisations, as well as public institutions from EU Member States and countries participating in the Single Market Programme. Participants based in Beijing are encouraged to join in person and take part in the networking session following the seminar.
