Newsletter Russia: Address of a legal entity: Current practice

We would like to offer for your information some important changes in the practice of the tax inspectorate when registering the addresses of legal entities.

The inspectorate now strictly demands that the State Register of Addresses (GAR) must indicate not only the address of the building but also the address of the specific premises that the legal entity uses as its address. If the address of the premises is not listed in the GAR, this will constitute grounds to refuse registration of the address. You can check whether the GAR lists the address of the premises online at: https://fias.nalog.ru/. We expect that this change in practice will lead to a new surge of reviews of legal entities’ address and to information on incorrect addresses being entered in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.

If the address of the premises that you are using is not listed in the GAR, the owner of the premises must register it there. In Moscow, this can be done remotely using the site mos.ru.The service is free of charge and generally takes seven business days.

Should you have any questions, we would be happy to assist you in registering the change of address.

    Kind regards,
