Falk Tischendorf and Alexander Bezborodov participate in the Russian-German Industrial Forum 2020

The Russian-German Industrial Forum, organised by the Russian-German Chamber of Foreign Trade in close cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, was held online on 25 November 2020, with the participation of 1,000 representatives of international and Russian business.

Falk Tischendorf was the moderator of the podium discussion "Machine Engineering/Industrial Policy in the power machine engineering sector: trends, challenges and models of cooperation for investors." Alexey Dubinin, Deputy Director of the Department of Machine Tool Building and Investment Machine Building of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, participated in the discussion, together with representatives of big business: Oleg Titov, General Director of Siemens Oil, Gas & Energy, Andreas Renner, General Director of Linde Engineering Rus, Anton Molochkov, Sales Director of OOO WRS Towers, Tim Christian Braeger, Chief Financial Officer of OOO Ural Locomotives, Ayman Zeitoun, Vice President for, Nikkiso Industrial Russia. The participants discussed the investment appeal of the Russian market, problems associated with coronavirus, and a course on eco-balanced production. To make the Russian market more attractive for German companies, the Russian government has simplified the special investment contract mechanism. According to Alexey Dubinin, this decision aimed to facilitate the communications and adaptation process for German business. Another policy trend of the Russian government in this area is the path to localisation. A number of German companies, developing in accordance with this path, have within a short period virtually fully relocated their production facilities to Russia. The participants of the discussion all expressed a desire to make their production facilities safe for the environment and shared information on their green energy projects. For example, at Ural Locomotives they plan to develop a hydrogen-powered train, which could also reinforce German-Russian cooperation on the use of hydrogen.

Alexander Bezborodov spoke at the forum on the topic of the pharmaceutical industry. Sergey Tsyb, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, discussed with the senior business executives the mandatory labelling of products introduced in 2017, the continuing weak protection of intellectual property, and also difficulties with the localisation of the high-tech production of orphan medicines. Alexander Bezborodov noted that the pharmaceutical market should closely monitor the development of the requirements of antitrust regulation in Russia.
