Munich, 2 December 2020 ‑ The international law firm BEITEN BURKHARDT has advised Commerz Real AG on the acquisition of the Beckum wind farm with two wind energy turbines in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Seller is Energiekontor AG, project developer with seat in Bremerhaven. The parties have agreed not to disclose the transaction volume. The wind farm, located at the town of the same name in the Münsterland region, is a repowering project with two Nordex N149 wind energy turbines with a total nominal output of around 9 megawatts. The wind farm was established only recently and is operating since the end of October 2020.
Originally there were six wind turbines with a nominal output of 5.2 megawatts on the site near Beckum. These were dismantled in 2019 and replaced by two much more powerful wind turbines, each with a nominal output of 4.5 megawatts, which were connected to the grid by the end of October 2020. The expected annual electricity volume of 24 m kilowatt hours is sufficient to cover the needs of more than 7,000 average German households.
The transaction was the first cooperation of Commerz Real AG with BEITEN BURKHARDT's Energy Team. The team headed by partners Dr Maximilian Emanuel Elspas and Dr Sebastian Rohrer advised Commerz Real AG comprehensively on a due diligence of the target company, negotiation of contracts and implementation of the transaction.
