Munich, 27 August 2020 – The international commercial law firm BEITEN BURKHARDT has advised Ledvance GmbH, based in Garching and specialising in general lighting, on the sale of its plant in Eichstätt, Bavaria, to the Munich-based investor Callista Private Equity. The parties have agreed to keep the transaction volume confidential.
The Eichstätt plant was transferred to a new company, Aurora Lichtwerke, by way of a transfer of operations. Ledvance remains a customer and partner of the plant. The purchase agreement provides for a site guarantee until 2023. After the closure of the site was expected in March of this year, the current transaction served to initially secure more than 330 jobs.
Ledvance used to be part of the general lighting division of Osram, but was taken over by Chinese investors in 2017 and is now owned by the Chinese lighting company MLS Co, LTD. With subsidiaries in more than 50 countries and business activities in over 140 countries, LEDVANCE has excellent global market access.
