    Background:

Since 1991, The Legal 500 Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) has provided an annually updated third party opinion on leading law firms and lawyers in the countries of the region, with coverage extending to the Caucasus and Central Asia. The current rankings are taken from The Legal 500 Europe, Middle East and Africa 2021 edition, published on 14 April 2021.

The EMEA guide provides researched coverage of over 80 countries and over 2,700 ranked law firms. Law firms do not pay anything to participate, so the editors make ranking decisions based solely on researched performance - this includes work done by firms in the last 12 months and in the past, experience and depth of teams, areas of expertise, as well as additional services.

The Legal 500 approaches over 300,000 clients worldwide each year to get feedback on which law firms meet the criteria required by in-house counsel and corporate executives. In addition, in-depth interviews are conducted with leading lawyers.
