BEITEN BURKHARDT organized a business breakfast jointly with Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the topic "Combating counterfeit products effectively: specific aspects of interaction with the customs authorities, the police and courts"

Moscow, 15 October 2019 – A business breakfast was held in Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 15 October 2019, where Taras Derkatsch and Ilya Titov (both from BEITEN BURKHARDT) and Alexandra Goncharenko and Evgeniy Egiazarov (both from Central Customs Directorate of the Federal Customs Service of Russia) spoke for 45 participants on the topic "Combating counterfeit products effectively: specific aspects of interaction with the customs authorities, the police and courts".

The speakers focused on the following relevant issues:

  • Ways of identifying counterfeit products: information of the customs authorities, in-formation online, sales outlets
  • Procedure for interacting with the customs authorities and the police if counterfeit products are identified
  • “Work on the ground”: test procurement of counterfeit products – specific aspects and procedure for making the procurement
  • Interaction with the law enforcement authorities (the police, customs authorities) if a case is commenced on the administrative offense;
  • Participation of the rights holder in the inspection and confiscation of counterfeit products;
  • Typical errors of the law enforcement authorities in cases on counterfeit products and how to avoid them;
  • Body of evidence in cases on counterfeit products: from accounting documentation to the expert review of counterfeit products;
  • The tricks of infringers and how to combat them;
  • Specific aspects of the participation of the rights holder as a third party in court pro-ceedings.

The event was followed by a lively discussion, with the speakers answering questions of interest to the guests.
