The XII session of the Euro-Asian Law Congress was held in Ekaterinburg on 13 and 14 September 2018. The Euro-Asian Law Congress was founded by the Russian Lawyers Association in 2007 as a special discussion platform, where representatives of the state, business and the public can raise topical issues with professionals lawyers, whose resolution will help to enhance the effectiveness of Euro-Asian cooperation.

Sergey Morozov, LL.M., Associate at the Dispute Resolution Practice Group of the Moscow office of BEITEN BURKHARDT, participated in the congress as invited expert and Co-Chair of the Young IMA (Mediation Committee) and spoke at the round table entitled "Alternative Resolution of Legal Conflicts. Mediation of an Actual Dispute" on the development prospects for mediation in Russia. The discussion also included contributions from: Denis Novak, Cand.Sc. Law, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation and Professor at the Russian School of Private Law, Alexey Solokhin, Advisor to the Directorate for the Classifica-tion of Legislation and Analysis of Judicial Practice of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and Lecturer at the Russian State University of Jurisprudence, Marina Rozhkova, LL.D., Professor at Kutafin Moscow State Law University, Expert of Russian Academy of Sciences and President of IP CLUB. The participants discussed the opportunities to use mediation in the Russian legal system and the current draft law on mediation, which is being actively discussed at present at the Government and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Evgenia Chervets, L.L.M, Russian School of Private Law, consultant of the S.S. Alexeev Private Law Research Center and Co-Chair of Young IMA, was the moderator of the round table.
