BEITEN BURKHARDT participated in the Russian Research and Practical Conference in Moscow

BEITEN BURKHARDT lawyer Natalia Bogdanova participated in the Russian Research and Practical Conference “Legal Regulation of Foreign Economic Activity and International Commercial Arbitration: Historical Experience and the Challenges of Today”, which was held in Moscow on 15 November 2019 (PDF Document). Conference speakers included both young specialists and also well-known foreign academics and practitioners: A.S. Komarov, N.G. Vilkova, N.G. Doronina, N.G. Semilyutina and I.S. Zykin. Natalia Bogdanova delivered a speech entitled “Conflicts of Law Regulation of Arbitration Agreements”, which is a topical issue both in foreign countries and Russia. An arbitration clause as part of a contract is recognized as an agreement that is independent of the other terms and conditions of the contract. The issue of an arbitration decision that the contract is invalid does not per se result in the invalidity of the arbitration agreement. However, the link between arbitration agree-ments and contracts and the venue of the arbitration proceedings predetermines the complexity of establishing the law applicable to them.
